Getting out of the Hermitage

Well, it's been a long time since I added anything to this blog, but momentous occasions are very much closer than the horizon.
It seems that 12 months will be the limit of our tenure in Hermitage, as the landlord of our house wants to move back into it.  So we're applying for a house in the delightful village of Aldworth, which is even closer to work and school.  We should hear in a week or so if our application has been successful.  Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, everything else is disturbingly hectic. Concerts, rehearsals, the start of the cricket season.  Speaking of which, I was surprised to read Holly Golightly (in Breakfast at Tiffany's) use to phrase "not cricket".  Haven't we done well to get our cricketing terms into non-cricketing countries.  I read somewhere last week that "a sticky wicket" would be understood by many Americans, but I've yet to find an opportunity to put this to the test.

And now I've started to ramble.
